1st Annual Art and Photography Scholarship Competition

Rules:

1. The competition is open to all graduating seniors of SAVHS. One entry per person is allowed. Applicants must choose one category to enter, either photography or mixed media.
2. Entries will be judged on originality and aptitude.
3. PHOTOGRAPHERS: Photographs must be taken with a digital camera. Enhancement in Photoshop is allowed.
4. ARTISTS: Mixed media must be oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, or a combination of the listed media. Any paper or canvas type is allowed. No sculpture, collage, glue, or textile is allowed. Maximum paper or canvas size is 22" x 30"
5. Creativity is encouraged; however, entries with extreme graphic violence or sexual content will not be considered and will disqualify the student from the competition.
6. Applications must be filled out on our website: www.artistschoice.net and must be received by March 31st, 2012.
7. Photography applicants must upload a digital file of their work in jpeg or tif format with a maximum of 5 MB file size and resolution of 300 dpi.
8. Mixed media applicants must take a digital photo of their work and upload a file of their image in jpeg or tif format with a maximum of 5 MB file size and resolution of 300 dpi.

10. The top 5 photography contestants will be contacted by April 28th and must provide the largest digital file possible of their work by Saturday, May 5th. Artists' Choice will print and display the image on photo paper at no cost to the contestant.
11. The top 5 mixed media contestants will be contacted by April 28th and must bring their original work to Artists' Choice by Saturday, May 5th. Do not mat or frame the artwork. Artists' Choice will decide the best way to display the artwork at no cost to the contestant.
12. The 10 top selections will be displayed at Artists' Choice and available to the public for viewing during business hours from May 8th to June 10th. Students my pick up their selections any time after June 10th.
13. The 4 runners-up in each category will receive free framing of their piece (if desired) and $100.
14. The winner of each category will receive free framing of their piece (if desired) and $1000.
15. The winners will be announced and checks will be awarded at the SAVHS Senior Awards ceremony on June 1st.
16. 1st Prize winners will retain copyright of their work. Artists' Choice will have publishing rights for 5 years after which publishing rights will return to each winner. The winners agree to sign and number prints of their work upon the request of Artists' Choice.
